Stop Overthinking It: Plan a Month of Content in 15 Minutes a Week

Featured, Strategy • June 18, 2025

You didn’t start your business to spend all day planning content.

But without a plan, you either go silent for weeks, or end up posting random things that don’t connect with your customers.

Sound familiar? You’re not alone.

Well the good news is you don’t need hours to plan.

You need a system that works with your busy schedule — not against it.

Here’s one that only takes 15 minutes a week.

Step 1: Decide What You Want to Be Known For

Before you start posting, get clear on your content pillars.

Ask:

  • What do I want people to associate with my business?
  • What services/products do I want to promote?
  • What topics am I asked about all the time?

Pick 3–4 content themes and stick with them.

These become your pillars — the repeating backbone of your content.

Example:
If you’re a baker, your pillars might be:

  • Behind the scenes of baking
  • Customer stories
  • Special offers
  • Baking tips & tricks

Step 2: Build a Simple Weekly Formula

You don’t need to reinvent the wheel every week.

Choose a posting pattern that you can repeat.

For example:

  • Monday: Share a tip
  • Wednesday: Show behind-the-scenes
  • Friday: Promote a product or service

3 posts a week = 12 posts a month.

Simple. Strategic. Sustainable.

Step 3: Use B-Roll as Your Content Goldmine

You don’t have to write long captions or stage professional photos all the time.

Just document what you already do. Take short 5–10 second clips of:

  • You working
  • A product being made
  • Your space or tools
  • Customer interactions

Then, pair it with one sentence of text:

“This is what I do. Need help?”
or
“Ever wondered what it’s like behind the scenes?”

That’s it. Content, done.

Step 4: Batch + Schedule in Mini-Sprints

Now that you know your pillars, pattern, and have B-rolls –

Spend just 15 minutes once a week following this routine:

  1. Plug your weekly formula into a calendar
  2. Match each post with content from your B-roll
  3. Write short captions (or use a voice-to-text app if you’re faster talking!)
  4. Use a scheduling tool (like Meta Planner or Metricool) to queue it up

You don’t need fancy tools.

You need a system you’ll actually stick to.
